Lake Fork

The trip to Lake Fork was a success in many ways. We caught some great fish and had a good time. We are still getting over the Bass Fishing learning curve, but it is getting better every time we go out. I caught the biggest bass so far at 4 pounds 11 ounces and it was on a Yellow Magic top water bait.

Photobucket

We stayed at Hook-Line-and-Sinker while there and it was a great place to stay. Check them out if you ever fancy a trip to Grande Bass territory:

Bass Boats and Bunnies

Snuck away after searching out all the gifts left by the Easter
bunnies. The recently purchased bass boat that my brother bought
allowed us to catch our first fish. He was really little, but the
first fish is one that should be marked with a photograph.

High Water and High Cotton

The annual fishing trip was a success. All eight generators were
running most of the time but the fish were biting. Many trophies were
caught and released and we have the hatpins to prove it.

On the White

Eight hours in the urban soccer mom assualt vehicle and a night in a
seedy motel and we are on the river. May the fat torpedos be
plentiful and the hops and barley never run out. Updates to follow.

Hatpins and Hangovers

The group is on the way to the great White River. Beer will be
consumed, fish will be caught and memories will be made.

End of an Era

Picked up the permanent reminder of our time near Brady. It was a
trying season but a good one as well. This memorial will hang on the
wall to pay homage to the gift I have been given in having the time
and the resources to pursue the elusive whitetail deer.

Showing Promise

Moved and setup our stuff this weekend. The new property has some
real promise. We found the sign posts of the warchiefs all around the
property. We have cameras up and look forward to the results in the
next month before the adornments drop.

Moving Day

Well it has come to this. This past weekend we rounded up all our
gear and headed to a new lease near Eldorado. It took a large amount
of effort but we got it all done on one trip.

Sweet Sorrow

This may be the last hunt for me this deer season. From the highest
highs to the lowest lows it has been one for the memory banks. Four
bucks and two does were harvested by team Walsh thus far and there can
be no grumblings from anyone. Hopefully as the years fade into the
past we can look back at this time with fondness. Time to get hunting
for the evening and with any amount of good fortune I will make yet
another entry this evening. Happy hunting!

Sweet success

This morning the stars and planets alinged, lady luck was on our side, and the boneheads were engrossed in their mating rituals. Everything came together and team Walsh put two more on the board. The buck in the top of the photo is my contribution to the winning season.

Where the boys aren't

Another sit and another full dose of estrogen. Not sure where the
boys are hiding, but one is bound to show sooner or later.

Time Marches On

Another morning hunt is almost in the books and the elusive war chief with his bony head dress has eluded me yet again. I did get the pleasure of observing some of his female counterparts and that will probably have to suffice. There is always this afternoon and then the
morning and...

Bad Juju

Well it was not sabotage that caused my issues, but technical
difficulties caused by yours truly. Made a scent drag this afternoon
an I am still in hot pursuit of the mighty DT! May luck prevail.

Sabotage

Yet again our equipment in the field has been tampered with. The rut
should be in full swing and I have only seen "Buddy" the fawn from
this year that frequents my spot. Time for repairs and a rekindling
of hope. A little lady luck would not hurt either.

One more for the books

Another opening weekend has passed and the bounty was plentiful.
Many deer were seen and a buck and a doe were harvested. A suitable
animal did not present itself to me, but the season is just beginning
and the rut is still to come.

Buck Down

A member of Team Walsh has gotten on the scoreboard this season. We
also checked the game cameras and have a droptine visiting. Hope
prevails and numerous anxious hours will tick eternally by in pursuit
of this animal. Lady luck may smile on Team Walsh yet again. Time to
soak in the solitude and savor the moment.

Gentlemen start your thundersticks!

Here it is again, Christmas morning for grown men and I have been in
the blind for two hours. I have seen 7 deer with two of them having
head gear. Not impressive at all, but adorned none the less. Seven
grey ghosts have graced my presencethis morning. It is going to be
good day!

Illinois a success

Did not get to see Mr. Freak Nasty, but did harvest the largest slick
head I have ever seen. 125 pounds dressed. On to opening rifle in
Tejas.

Return to the Promise Land

We are back in the land of giants in Illinois. This time I am armed
with the ability to take a buck if one presents itself. One six point
was spotted last evening by another in the hunting party. Fingers
crossed we will have luck on our side.
